Being as we're seemingly fishing in the Scottish pond a bit I watched their SPFL highlights prog on the iPlayer the other day. McCowan played in the Dundee derby, not of huge stature but got a good left peg, on most of their set pieces, bit of a lower grade Barry Bannan type I thought.

Armstrong was on bench for Kilmarnock, came on 2nd half, not much chance to feature in the highlights but did cut in from right and put one superb left footed ball in their strikers should have buried.

20 goals a season in league one. Was the next big thing once upon a time at Brighton

Another with a hit and miss career with injuries

I think he can get as many as May in league one

But as many as Dan?

I watch a fair bit of Scottish football and whilst I see what you're saying, McCowan is a slightly different type of player from Bannan. Good left peg but not a wand like Bannan's - on the other hand his workrate is higher, he's more energetic and he can tackle.

What is it about left footed players this window? McCowan, Armstrong, Schon  - do you reckon the club have consciously gone out to get left footers?

Can’t be fit though if he hasn’t been at a club so it would take some time to get him anywhere near up to speed and we need players there from day one. Seems decent quality though if IE wants to risk it but there’s usually a good reason why players are still available at this stage.

If he was at a club until the end of last season, then he's only missed a month or so of pre-season, and may well have been keeping himself fit, and even training at a local club.

CMG looked good in one game. I think he could be good but we as a fan base have no idea.

Big Dan is shit or bust this year I reckon

CMG has a track record of being decent in league 1/2 With Morecambe and Fleetwood. Dan has done nothing of note at any level apart from an average spell at Cheltenham on loan. CMG earned a move to Luton, Dan just came through Southampton's youth system.

Never forgiven Tim Ream for that capitulation at home to WBA. Absolutely rotten defender

Should've scored with that header against Stoke too.

It’s one of life’s mysteries how he managed to play so many games in the Premiership, over the years.

Good footballer, suited the game more as it developed into the 2020s. Never a dominant or even good defender, but some managers prioritise ability on the ball over that I suppose.

He's one of them players I always noticed at Brighton (I couldn't recognise 90% of their other players), he just always looked quality.  Some decent goals for Hull, but as with Collins, a good creative player doesn't have to score every other game to be contributing.  I'm not saying sign him, he could have gone off the rails or something, but if he's 100% fit and motivated he's too good for L1.

Was thinking just that. I'd have never a million years predicted his career after us.

Bit like Antonee Robinson.

Don't remind me - I was right behind the goal and went from joy to despair in a nanosecond. But TBF to Sorensen it was a good save.

But we were robbed by Walters goal - clear foul - and Crouch's dive.

Or Rodrigo - and we let Aaron Mooy and Blerim Dzemaili slip through our hands - all had great international careers.

Marcos Alonso got dog's abuse from some of ours even though he was obviously talented and was played out of position.

I've always thought that.  He was an above average (but not outstanding) championship defender, never Prem.  A decent left back, weak as piss at CB.  Every time I watched Fulham in the Prem he looked great for half an hour stroking the ball about and organising everyone, then he would either over play and get dispossessed, be caught out of position, or get outmuscled and concede.  I swear they never kept a clean sheet with him on the pitch 😀.  Top bloke though!

I was about to say the same.  Two USA players cut from the same cloth, pacy and weak.

I was right behind it too and I could have sworn there was no save, didn't he hit the post from about 3 yards?
