This makes it more puzzling for me. Having gone down one route (and, to be fair, i believe the illness story - he'd come a cropper just making stuff up), it seems odd to then choose another line in a separate interview. So why then start referring to players attitudes? Again, I doubt he's making it up, but it seems a little naive to start going off at tangents. Huge injury list and illness - I have some sympathy for Evatt. Clearly, however, some cultural issues to address. GJ did an interview where a players meeting was held in the dressing room post game. I'd imagine he was one of those calling other players out. Issues could be related to poor (character) recruitment, players demotivated after Wembley or players out of contract who aren't quite fully invested. Ultimately, culture (on the playing side) lies with Evatt. He'll know this... ... and today, all that matters, is whether our investors think he is the man to help them get a return on their investment. They decided to stick with him less than 24 hours after Huddersfield, so i imagine we'll know today based on news or silence. One final note; Craddock absolutely had to go. Clearly, the words this weekend suggest that didn't solve those cultural problems. What do you base the "Craddock absolutely had to go" on? I'm not disagreeing, i don't have any knowledge of what each of the coaches does tbh Quote

That'd be outrageous if so, both on Evatt and his staff but especially on the players themselves. Quote

Popular Post Zico Posted November 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2024 just going round in circles now Saturday shows whatever issues we have are still apparent we knew players were a no show when the opposition are up for it now we know they are a no show at training too he had his time to think about things over the summer and what needed to be done it didn't work he had his chance to get things back on track after Huddersfield sacked backroom staff changed captain and here we are again no doubt the players have responsibilty but the manager has to be able to manage them how many more honest conversations and periods of reflection does everyone need? Eddie Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 It’s like when Biden was holding out to remain as the candidate for the next election. Everyone knew how it would end up, he clung onto excuses and tried to rally his support but it was only ever going to end one way, and it did. Question is, how long do you hold out and how much damage is done in that time. Quote
Rizlar Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 The decision on his future is up to the board as he will not resign so he will be here a while longer ! Quote

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be up there, but now that we're in a league with teams with more financial clout than us, and more savvy set ups, we're going to struggle. Other teams' finances have nothing to do with out squad though. We've spent quite a bit, and as you say, on paper it's stronger. That's all there is to it. Of course, they're not performing as well as they could/should but that doesn't automatically mean it's weaker. Plenty of factors to consider as to why that is, but we know the biggest issue. Quote

Popular Post Lostock Whites Posted November 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change things around then they themselves are also incompetent at their jobs. Sharon comes from a good place and I do agree with managers being allowed to have time. But in football you have to make proactive decisions or get left behind. Circumstances slightly different yes, but Evatt had been in charge a year longer than Kieran McKenna had when he came into the job at Ipswich when we were both competing in League One(we finished above them in our first season back in League One). On Saturday Ipswich beat Tottenham away in the Premier League where we got beaten 5-0 by Stockport County in League One And Ipswich are not just an anomaly. Des Buckingham at Oxford, only managed in India and Australia before managing in England properly, he exposed Evatts style for the whole world to see at Wembley and in that video. John Mousinho at Pompey another one. All those managers just as young and inexperienced as Evatt have all had less time than him and got their clubs out of this league. And look now, there's another 2 coaches sitting in the top 2 of League 1, way above us and just as young and as inexperienced as Evatt, Matt Bloomfield and Chris Davies. Evatt is playing the same formation and style since we played Ipswich last in League 1, they're in the Prem and we're still playing the same style. My biggest gripe with Evatt is we don't ever appear to LEARN and ADAPT. As fans we don't need any more signs of a manager that has reached the end of his limits. And we certainly don't need more excuses. He's already blamed the players, fans, illnesses, a mysterious dark cloud since Wembley, opposition players for winding him up and getting a 3 match ban, and it's only November! We've all had enough. Mantra Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Honestly couldn’t have said it any better @Lostock Whites I would rather have a patient board than a trigger happy one. But the longer they leave this now the more chance they have of damaging their own reputations with the fans. Already seen a few posts on social media/here saying the board are incompetent for not sacking him. I kept quiet through our post Huddersfield “hot streak”. The game against Reading we looked like we found some fire in our bellies but it was just a waiting game until the next “big match”. I didn’t want to be too harsh after Birmingham as they are an outlier in the division but another BIG loss to a rival is the final confirmation to me that the Evatt era is over. It seems incredibly unlikely that he can turn this round now and get us promoted and I would hate to see us just watch this season drift away from us without some sort of proactive change. Schumacher in for me. Mark Robins I think would have better offers around. Quote

Farnywhite Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 If the board don’t sack him it just shows a lack of ambition on there part and if there under the illusion crowds will keep at the same level season after season in league one there in for a shock Quote

Alas, Shazza hasn't given up on him..... Still early in the week. I share the view that he may now have shot his bolt, following the interview. Unless it was pre-discussed with the board, then I feel they may also share fans' thoughts. Maybe something might happen later in the week, after they have all shared opinions (the board). Quote
Marc505 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Only thing I would say in his favour about this interview is (like most of his other outbursts that rile everyone up) It was done straight after full time on Saturday. I feel theres often an attitude among people like oh for fucks sake Evatts doubled down on what hes said in another press conference, but in reality BN chose to keep these quotes back until today. As usual, Evatt will probably explain himself a little bit better in a sit down press conference, but we're well past that making a difference now anyway. Edited November 11, 2024 by Marc505 Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Its strange that Evatt has brought up the seemingly bad attitude after a defeat, we have won 6 from 8 in the league so it seems poor show to call it out after a defeat and one where players were reportedly poorly all week. Quote
