I didn't see a Championship standard player in there - if he's championship standard Toal, Santos and Johnstone definitely are.  Then again I don't see a champ player in Ogbeta either so what do I know.  Maybe its more that he knows he won't be first choice here assuming others don't leave, so he may as well be a stand in at WBA as here.

I see no reason why Jones and Iredale would get more chances at full back next season, compared to this.  Loads of times they weren't really needed at CB - Forrester could have stood in easily, and Toal was the usual left sided CB - and they weren't picked above JDC/Williams/Ogbeta/Ashworth.  If I was betting, I'd say they won't start more than 5 games all season at fullback, whoever's bought/sold (unless JDC has long injury etc).

Yes I could be well wide of the mark, he was decent, but looked a bit one paced and not particularly comfortable in possession.  Main strength seemed to be height, not a bad thing in a CB, but I think he'd have to play in the middle of 3 to be at his best and that's not happening other than as stand in for our captain.

I'd be happy for him to return, but I'd be happy with Forrester and Johnstone equally.

Wasn’t there speculation Johnson was all lined up for a move last year before his injury? If he can get fit and prove it things may spark up again in January? Until then I think Toal, Rico and Johnson would be our best CH combination, assuming of course that IE keeps the same system.

We all see things differently. Ogbeta had no support from midfield and apart from the odd run from Charles no movement in front of him. A couple of times it opened up for him and he didn’t do very well admittedly. However, the statuesque performances from Thomason, Toal, Santos, Sheehan, Cogley and Jones was our undoing and all were worse than Ogbeta IMO.
