Totally agree with the George and Tommo midfield, but it opens up the Sheehan question again. With Lolos out I'd have thought Evatt might consider Collins Charles and McAtee as the front 3?

Like I said before, I'm struggling to see where Sheehan fits in now but whilst Evatt is still working out the best combo he will probably be shoehorned in somewhere.

Think that would be asking an awful lot tbf.

It’s all about opinions and you’re welcome to your opinion… I’ll just say you should have gone to Specsavers.

Do you think he played well?

He has got a track record of scoring spectacular goals but I agree with you that tonight he didn't look like a team player - which was disappointing after his excellent cameo against Orient.

It's good to have someone with a bit of swagger about them and McAtee has a lot of talent but he was trying too hard to impress with the spectacular instead of keeping it simple - and at times he made a bit of a dick of himself and let down his teammates.

I'd still pick him though - and hopefully Evatt will have a word in his ear.

Baxter

Toal Santos Johnston

JDC Matete Tommo Schon

McAtee Dion Collins

Our best team for this system IMO.

Sorry Josh....

Where I’m at regarding our best line up

For me Sheehan & George in midfield won’t be effective and like periods Saturday leaves us vulnerable, soon as matete came on different story

Great to have options now 👌

Just saying what I think. Don't give a fuck if people disagree - forums are for opinions aren't they?

Oh - and cliques apparently  :)

They are indeed.

In this case, others' opinions are based on observation, and how refereeing doesn't seem to be applying the rules fully.

You feel they are, but I'm still struggling with your interpretation of "petulance"- I've not read the rules, but I'd guess that the word isn't included within them.

By the way ... Matete's penalty.

Magical.

I honestly thought he was left footed till he took that

that shot at orient made me think hes not

I know but last night he had another played to him on his right and again pulled it to his left and again took out a floodlight.

He really reminds me of Muamba as can clearly play but looks likely to miscontrol the ball as he is to pass it.

I was impressed with Mansfield, played some good stuff and could have scored 2 or 3 (thinking of the disallowed goal when the sliced us open, and a couple of missed chances).  It makes me think the teams that came up and finished above them are going to be real challengers.  Either that or we just didn't play very well, maybe a bit of both!  It was definitely a bit disjointed, some good spells, but the "new" system clearly needs working on.

I do feel we encourage teams to attack us out wide with no genuine full backs, it looks so easy to make inroads when Williams or whoever is caught too far forward.

Matete obviously the stand out of the new players, reminded me a bit of Medo from about 12 years ago in running style and strength.  He'll become a regular starter.

Vic held the ball up better than I've ever seen him do in the 1st half, but a poor finish with his one chance put through by McAtee.  Tailed off in the 2nd half and showed some basic lack of control a couple of times but overall he did look fitter and stronger.

One other comment on last night was our clear it was that we're bringing 11 back at corners, it doesn't even get mentioned now, its routine.  So many times we couldn't clear our lines especially 1st half, Mansfield loved getting a 2nd and 3rd chance to put the ball in the box every time they had a corner.  Still baffling and infuriating and whatever new system or players we have, that remains a constant that will result not only in goals conceded but less breakaway chances to score, IMO.

Leave Charles, Macatee and Collins or our most pacey smaller type up for counters on corners, the opposition will shite themselves and leave 4 back and those players are gifted enough to cause a lot of problems, I don't know how often corners are scored but it does seem quite an offensive positive tactic that could lead to breakaway goals, perhaps the worry of conceding is too much and analysis shows it's better to just defend?, it's something I'd do if I was manager, annoys me I can't set my own corner rules/positions on eafc/fifa when attacking/defending, but this would be something I'd try.

I thought Stockport & Wrexham would be pushing for the playoffs. Didn’t give Mansfield a second thought.
