Not long later Richards took him out at the knee & another long lay off followed. I was there at snowy Burnden on the day Wood clattered Reidy. I remember the second injury, but I couldn't have told you who it was who caused it. Yes, Add 'em both to the list. Quote

False memories are so strange . 41 minutes ago, Tonge moor green jacket said: Best will in the world, being top scorer is perhaps misleading as to the team's performance overall. I can clearly remember him being beasted by Southgate and thinking it has just come too late. Still a legend though. Yeah it was a poor season . At least he can say he played in the top flight. Wasnt there a stat that if matches were 75 mins long we would have finished 9th and if 85 mins long we would have finiashed 6th or something similar. Quote
Burnden Pies Posted August 20 Posted August 20 (edited) Yes IIRC we conceded a lot of late goals in that first PL season. We'd have a fair amount of possession but it would often come to nought against much more clinical finishing. It was soul destroying watching us compete in a game only to suffer a sucker punch right at the end Edited August 20 by Burnden Pies Quote

Popular Post noxid Posted August 20 Popular Post Posted August 20 Any news on a new striker? Would be good to get some latest updates from anywhere. The last 500 comments should've put under a new heading 'Memory Lane' Quote

Duck Egg Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I got all giddy when I saw we'd signed a striker from Watford. I'd never heard of him like. Ade somebody. Turns out it was a lass for the women's team. Quote

I've lost count of the number of times I've read that Arsenal have swooped to sign Liverpool's top scorer or Man U have smashed their record transfer fee for a Spanish striker. And its nothing of the sort. Quote

Wanderlust Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I think we’ve exhausted this thread for the moment but I’m still hopeful we’ll see a bit more action in both directions as the window winds down. Rumours seem to have stopped for now though. Quote
RUREADY2ROLL Posted August 21 Posted August 21 We need a right back, centre back who has pace and a CF who does score goals (I know it was only 15 minutes but that Dalby didn’t look good) Quote

We've conceded 4 in 4. Only 1 of those was from a forward getting away from our defenders and, even in that case, it was less about pace and more about Toal switching off. I genuinely can't recall a single instance in any League Game where our central defenders have been outstripped for pace. Correct me if i am wrong. As for Dalby, i thought he looked very promising. A lot of physicality, held it up a couple of times and brought wide players into play. He made a mistake with his lay off to McAtee but he'll be good for us when fit i think. We have a CF who has scored 2 in 4 as well. So you could argue we already have the player you want! Quote

Wanderlust Posted August 21 Posted August 21 There were a couple of times last night when we did get the ball in their box but nobody could get on to it but I reckon Dalby would have been in there like a wrecking ball and smashing it in. He’ll be a danger at corners and set pieces, but he came on when we were mainly on the defensive. Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) Although Reading created nothing, give them some credit for defending their box. They worked their balls off. Whoops, wrong topic. Edited August 21 by waffer cup 07 Quote
