Cheese Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 (edited) Got our coach tickets in the post yesterday. Not done a coach since Cardiff, so not sure of the protocol these days. Are the 'seat numbers' on the tickets designated to specific coaches, or do you just turn up and get on the next available seat? Had a look back at the info from last season, and it said to make a note of your coach number so you go back on the same one, so I'm assuming it's the latter scenario. I think I already have the right answer, but thought I'd ask anyway. Edited May 12, 2024 by Cheese Quote

Yes Ruislip is on the met line that will take you to Wembley Park. As Matt says it’s simple as you see the stadium from the exit. Pub wise is slim pickings. I would also say box park is shite if rammed as well even if we get it. There is a los iguanas not a million miles away a bit off the radar that does the trick. White horse is decent for a pint but I suspect will be heaving. Quote

We beat Barnsley when we were outnumbered 5 to 1, and lost to them when we outnumbered them 11 to 1. Two of our biggest home crowds this season were Wigan and Carlisle. The Red scum up the road have the largest crowds, and had their 9th home defeat of the season today. How many seasons have Bournemouth now had in the top flight, despite averaging 10k ? Crowd numbers are over analysed, and fans brag about them, but ultimately its 11 guys on the pitch that matter. I'll not be losing sleep over whether we have more fans than Oxford on the day or not, and I doubt the players will be either. Quote

Popular Post Traf Posted May 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2024 Attendance, kit colours etc are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is getting one goal more than Oxford. Quote
mickbrown Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 If you want to go boozing pre game, why oh why would you choose Wembley when you’ve a capital city full of fantastic pubs and a superb public transport system on tap. Quote

Or if you're with a driver, Watford is only 15 minutes on the direct train, <30 if it stops at Pinner etc. Piece of cake if you want a quick getaway as it's so close to the M25 - but loads of Wanderers stay at the Holiday Inn Express for the overnight with free parking. Loads of boozers if you stay over after the match or fancy a few before you go. Booking the hotel now might be tricky and more expensive than their usual cheap rate though, but worth asking. Wembley Way has a few licensed catering places if you want to avoid queuing for hours, and last time we went into the Indian restaurant for a few jars - literally 100 yds from the ground. They said we had to eat so we got some samosas to snack on whilst getting the drinks delivered to the table for an hour or two before going in. Quote

desperado Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 The answers to the question about why drink in Wembley, surely has to be because you are guaranteed a good atmosphere, good sing-song etc? It’s the one thing I agree with my kids on when I end up in an away pub with few Wanderers. “Why are we in here, it’s dead?” That said, I’m not a cultured ale drinker, so what I drink is quite low down on my priority list. That said I hate paying way over the odds, which can happen a lot both at Wembley and in London pubs. I’ll make sure a few desperados are sunk on the train down to set me up 😊 Quote

I agree, been there done that I think if you're younger or with young ones and you rock up on a coach that drops you off at Wembley, you're not inclined to get on the tube and go looking for a pub Teenage me just wanted to get in amongst the fans at the torch and soak it all up This weekend will be pulling into Euston and staying there as late as possible Quote

We just left our stuff on the coach last year when we parked at Wembley (non official coach) it wasn’t a problem. Had saved a nice little stash of “refreshments” for on the way home & was so glad that we did, lot’s of folk had run out on the way down. Quote

Went on the train last year and the other half had a rucksack that they wouldn't let her take in Had to pay an extortionate amount to put in a left luggage type place Well she had to pay an extortionate amount I couldn't be arsed waiting and went in the ground to have a pint as there was a big queue so seemed like a lot of others had made the same mistake Quote

It's more that energy at the start of the game and during it when you've got impressive numbers, which is why I track it. Look at Barnsley and Portsmouth at home this season, just having big home fan numbers gives everyone a spring in their step before the match. Must translate to the players to a degree at the start of a game. But surely knocking on for anything over 20k at a ground 200 miles away from a ground where we barely scrape that size of crowd is “impressive numbers” isn’t it? Quote
